Covid-19 Legal Update: Manufacturing and Construction Sectors Back to Work

On the 16th of May, 2020, the Prime Minister announced that Phase 2 of the lifting of the Covid-19 restrictions and measures will be pulled forward to Thursday 21st May, 2020 (having been initially scheduled to begin on May 24th, 2020). This move brings about the full re-opening of the manufacturing and construction sectors, along with the reopening of:

  • Auto repair/parts and tyre shops; and
  • Laundry and dry cleaning services.

The updated regulations implementing the above changes have not been issued at the time of writing. We will update this post along with our general Covid-19 Legal Updates post to reflect any additional changes made by the updated regulations.

The Prime Minister encouraged all reopened businesses to implement a “No Mask-No Service” policy and indicated that police officers and District Medical Officers will be carrying-out patrols in an effort to ensure compliance with Public Health Regulations to minimise the spread of Covid-19.
